SARA J. LONDON

Entry 7: The Panopticon and the Utilitarian Paragon

Writer's picture: LondonLondon

Sara's philosophy lesson of the week is an embarrassingly affectionate ode to Jeremy Bentham, thoughts about surveillance, and an analysis on the American ability to self-govern. Note that this was filmed before former VP Joe Biden was projected to win the election, and though the United States is a bit less unstable than it was a few days ago, this lecture still applies. As I cross the aisle in my own way, I'd like to quote the words of the insufferably annoying Bill Maher: "no president can unite us - we need to unite ourselves".
